100 mile rider Adrienne Hewitt and her Arab/ Dutch Warmblood horse "Fair Chance" at Hickerson Gap at the top of the 1 mile climb up the Blue Ridge Mountain on the first leg of the OD. The trail crests on Skyline Drive, and then crosses over the road to descend the 2 mile trail down Land's Run into the Shenandoah Valley heading towards the Shenandoah River about 9 miles distant.
