Scenery from the trail, Day 1 Death Valley Encounter.  2005 Ride Season. Photos by Karen Chaton

Weaver cam shot.  We didn't take a lot of photos while it was raining

Elfta and Luna.  We got wet, and pretty much stayed wet all day.

The rain made the sandy footing perfect for the horses

The road between Ballarat and Indian Ranch.  This was the second day.  It cleared up (rain wise), so I got more photos

The trail after the rain stopped flowing, it just sort of puddled.

Looking down the trail, you can see the tracks up ahead

Chief finds something orange to eat

Rainbows start to form as we ride back across the valley towards Ballarat.  When we finished we hauled the horses to Panamint Sprints to camp.  In the morning we hauled them from Valley Wells to Ballarat (radio tower)

Getting ready to head back out!  Just a few more miles to go before finishing at Panamint Springs!

Weaver cam shot of the long and rocky road.  No rain, but it was a little breezy

Road closed.  A helicopter crashed up the road from Panamint Springs (our basecamp).

Weaver after finishing the third day, and thankful to be able to eat DRY HAY!

Chief modeling his new blanket, for doing all of Jackie's rides last year (2004)

Chief also glad to be able to eat dry hay and stand on dry ground.  It rained a lot the first part of this 4 day ride.

Trying to get home. Lots of roads were closed and/or had chain requirements.

A bit chilly, you could say!!

A shot of Darwin Falls

Rocks, all very unique.

Some of the wildlife on the trail.
