Trail on the Color Country ride

More of the trail, this shows some of the footing

The trail ahead, this is interesting....

This is a horse trail!

Riders catching up on the first day down one of the washes

Trail ahead, as we go up and down thru a wash

We just climbed up these rocks, and I'm on the edge but couldn't resist taking a photo

Weaver-cam shot.  This was after lunch.  The first day is 55 miles.  We had an hour hold at 30 miles back in camp.

More of the great scenery

Trail ahead

Weaver looking around.  He hasn't been to this ride before.

More of the rock formations around us

Looking back, we are going up a climb and you can see the trail down below

More scenery

Looking around more

A little sandy areas, it alternated between firm sand to deep, with lots of motorcycle moguls

Good footing ahead

Nearing a water trough

Looking at scenery at this end of the loop

We are about to start climbing up on the trail ahead

Stopping to drink at the trough first

Looking around after climbing partway up.  The weather was beautiful on the 1st day.  on day 2 we did this climb after being rained on, and then it started snowing!

Looking ahead, still going up

Now we're on another part of the loop and looking at more of the scenery

Another Weaver-cam shot :)

More assorted scenery

More of the trail.  There are dinosaur tracks out here somewhere

Trail with more great scenery

Stopping to eat, lots of great green grass along the trail

Going thru another wash, lots of great colors, orange, purple...

Now it's the second day and it started raining the night before and never stopped.  It's now lunchtime back in camp after going 30 miles with 20 left to go.

Guess you could say it got a little muddy out there!

Everything got muddy

Tho, the top part of the horse was washed clean from all of the rain!

Going back out after lunch, the rain was starting to break up but the trail in spots was still extremely slick

What some of the trail looked like.....

Two riders behind me, we turned to get their photo.  The clouds made the colors really stand out

Chief after finishing day 2.  The girth is that muddy because we fell in it (the mud, that is).

Another shot of the mud all over the horse.

Things have dried out, and the horses are clean and are taking a break.  Weaver needed a break from eating all day, I guess.

Chief cam shot on day 3.  It cleared up, but now it's windy.

More of the scenery.  Because the trails were still slippery, we repeated parts of the first two days instead of doing a separate 3rd day trail.
